Soccer Goal Shape

A soccer goal consists of two upright posts and joined at the top by a horizontal crossbar. In soccer the goalpost and crossbar must be made of wood, metal, or other approved materials. The crossbar and goalposts can be square, rectangular, round or elliptical in shape; however, the shape must not be dangerous to players.

Soccer Goal Size

The soccer goal must be 24 feet (7.32 m) wide which is measured between the two goal posts. The height of the soccer goal must be 8 feed (2.44 m) which is measured between the lower edge of the crossbar to the ground. The goalpost and the crossbar must be the same width and depth which is not to exceed 5 inches (12 cm).

According to FIFA, the goalposts and crossbar MUST BE WHITE.

Soccer Nets

Soccer nets can be attached to the goals; however, they are not required. If a soccer net is hung on the goal it must be attached to the goal and the ground behind the goal and the goal net and it's supports cannot interfere with the goalkeeper.

Soccer Goal Safety

Soccer goal safety is very important in soccer matches. Soccer goals MUST be anchored securely to the ground. A portable soccer goal can be used if and only if the goal is securely anchored without risk of tipping.
